Protected Designations of Origin Achaia

The broader Peloponnese peninsula has 7 Protected Designations of Origin and 4 of them are spread beyond the city of Patras, in Achaia region. Of these, only the PDO Patra is reserved for dry white wines made from Roditis grapes. It is a large area that covers a large number of sites, the best of them are located on higher altitudes that can reach 1000m above sea level. All other three designations produce exclusively sweet wines which are considered to be among the best sweet wines of Greece. The tables below highlight the styles, grapes and production levels of these designated areas.
